Safety & oversight:
Camp programs operate within local health, safety, and child-care frameworks that vary by region. Because these standards are set and enforced locally, families should consult the camp directly and relevant local authorities for the most current information on safety practices and supervision.
Our role:
Kampspire does not verify, monitor, or evaluate compliance with these standards. Program details, pricing, policies, and availability are determined by individual providers and must be confirmed directly with them.

From the Missouri guide
Missouri runs hot and humid through the camp months. The heat builds across the afternoon and the nights stay warm and close, so an outdoor day is planned around water and shade as much as around activity. Storms can climb quickly, particularly in early summer, and then clear off. The lakes warm enough to swim all season, while some spring-fed Ozark streams keep an edge of cool. Sun, humidity, and the state's well-known ticks and chiggers are the things a packing list here quietly plans around.

Temperature figures are drawn from NOAA/NCEI U.S. Climate Normals. Conditions vary within a state by region, elevation, and distance from the coast, so interior and higher areas generally run cooler than coastal or low-lying ones. Treat these as a general guide, not a forecast for any specific camp.
Most families fly into one of the state's major airports, St. Louis Lambert International (STL) on the eastern side or Kansas City International (MCI) on the western, and drive from there. STL is the larger and busier of the pair. Almost all camp travel past the airport is by car; Missouri is road-served throughout, with no fly-in-only camp country.
For the overnight camps, the shape of the drive is metro to hill country: an interstate southwest toward the Ozarks or across the state between the metros, then a U.S. highway, then a narrowing onto the state's lettered back routes as you near a lake cove or a camp gate. Plan for that last stretch to slow right down. The metro day camps invert this, sitting where families already are. Any shuttle or pickup arrangement is a detail to confirm directly with the camp rather than to assume.
