From the Minnesota guide
Summer is the warm window in a state that knows real cold, and it is short enough to be treasured. Days can turn hot and humid at the peak before handing back a cool night, and a camp in the far north runs cooler than the middle of the state. The lakes stay cold, bracing even in the heat, so swimming is genuine but brisk. Storms can build quickly on a warm afternoon, early-summer daylight runs long, and the north woods come with mosquitoes and black flies as part of the day.

Temperature figures are drawn from NOAA/NCEI U.S. Climate Normals. Conditions vary within a state by region, elevation, and distance from the coast, so interior and higher areas generally run cooler than coastal or low-lying ones. Treat these as a general guide, not a forecast for any specific camp.
Almost every fly-in route runs through Minneapolis-Saint Paul International (MSP), the state's main hub and a major connecting airport. For the far north, Duluth (DLH) sits closer to the arrowhead, the North Shore and canoe country, and small regional fields near Bemidji, Brainerd and International Falls put families nearer some northern camp belts. Rochester (RST) serves the southeast bluff country.
From the Twin Cities the interstate climbs north toward Duluth, then the shore highway follows Lake Superior and long inland byways, the Gunflint Trail out of Grand Marais and the Echo Trail near Ely, reach up into camp and wilderness country before dead-ending at the water. Expect highways to give way to county and forest roads the farther up north you go, and for the deepest wilderness the road simply ends, with the last stretch sometimes made by boat. Day and specialty camps near the metro ask no travel at all. Transport and any pickup are things to confirm directly with the camp.
