About our camp

In the summer of 2003, when Ghostlight Theater Camp was founded, its program included 11 campers. In 2007, the camp already welcomed 80 campers, ages 11-17, and the number of new and returning campers has been increasing with each year.

Ghostlight Theater Camp is located in Oakland - a 3-hour drive north from Boston and 1.5-hour drive from Portland, Maine. It’s an ideal choice for those teenagers who want to unearth and develop their artistic and musical talents. The camp offers a 10-Day starter camp, two 3-week sessions or one full session lasting for 6 weeks. A festival show for family and friends marks the end of each session.

Cabins at Ghostlight house up to 10 campers, divided by age groups, who live with two staff members. We are a screen-free camp, inviting campers and staff to unplug and take part in community building and theater-making in the beautiful foothills of Maine.

Camp programs & activities

Between rehearsals campers enjoy downtime activities such as basketball, soccer, Frisbee, Capture the Flag, Ping-Pong tournament and The Gotcha! challenge.

After dinner, campers get together for evening activity program that includes themed camp wide games, So You Think You Can Dance challenge, Talent Show, Make Your Own Music Video, The Horror Radio Play, a Scavenger Hunt and Student-Directed Scenes.

In complement to afternoon and evening activities, everyone at Ghostlight heads for off-camp trips to connect closely with nature and discover the spectacular areas of Maine.
