From the New Jersey guide
New Jersey summers are warm and humid, with July and August the muggy peak: thunderstorms build on the hot afternoons, and a heat spell settles in now and then. The shore runs a little different, the ocean taking the edge off the air, a sea breeze coming up in the afternoon, and morning fog sometimes sitting on the coast, while the northern hills and the pine country cool off at night under the trees and keep their swimming lakes bracing. The figures here are air-temperature normals for a representative northern station, and the interior, the higher ground, and the coast all vary from it.

Temperature figures are drawn from NOAA/NCEI U.S. Climate Normals. Conditions vary within a state by region, elevation, and distance from the coast, so interior and higher areas generally run cooler than coastal or low-lying ones. Treat these as a general guide, not a forecast for any specific camp.
The state's main gateway is Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), up in the crowded northeast; families headed for South Jersey and the southern Pinelands often find Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), just across the river, the easier way in. That said, most New Jersey camp families never fly to camp at all. The day-camp majority is a local drive, with camp sitting inside the family's own everyday geography rather than at the end of a journey.
For the camps that do sit further out, the state's north-south toll roads carry most of the traffic, the Garden State Parkway down the length of the state and the New Jersey Turnpike through the central corridor, with interstate routes running west toward the Delaware Water Gap and an expressway angling southeast toward the shore. The northwest resident-camp country comes at the end of a shift from highway to state and county roads climbing into the hills, and the Pine Barrens camps lie off smaller roads through the trees. Nothing here is fly-in only, and no camp is beyond a road. Any shuttle or transport arrangement is best confirmed directly with the camp.
