From the Texas guide
Heat is the organizing fact of summer here, and it sets the rhythm of a camp day more than the calendar does: early mornings, shade, water in the hottest hours, an easier afternoon. The coast adds humidity and afternoon storms, with the edge of hurricane season late in the season, while the Hill Country's spring-fed rivers stay cold and clear when little else does and the Gulf runs warm and murky. The limestone country can flood fast after heavy rain, and sun and mosquitoes are the everyday things to manage. The figures here are air-temperature normals for a representative north-central station; in a state this size, the interior, the hills, and the coast all vary from it.

Temperature figures are drawn from NOAA/NCEI U.S. Climate Normals. Conditions vary within a state by region, elevation, and distance from the coast, so interior and higher areas generally run cooler than coastal or low-lying ones. Treat these as a general guide, not a forecast for any specific camp.
The state's main gateways are Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) and Houston's George Bush Intercontinental (IAH). For the Hill Country resident-camp belt, which sits west of the line between Austin and San Antonio, the practical airports are Austin-Bergstrom (AUS) and San Antonio International (SAT); Houston's Hobby (HOU) is the closer field for heading down toward the Galveston coast.
Reaching the river camps means leaving a metro on the interstate running west and northwest, then turning off onto state and farm-to-market roads that narrow as they follow the rivers into the canyons; the last stretch is narrow and rural, and the drive is the real distance, not the flight. The coastal science camps are an easier run down toward the island from Houston, and the city day camps have no travel friction at all, since a family is already where the camp is. Pickup and transport arrangements vary by camp and are worth confirming directly with whichever one you choose.
