From the Nebraska guide
Nebraska summers run hot and, in the east, humid, with warm nights near the rivers and cooler ones out in the drier Sandhills and panhandle. Wind is nearly always present, and the warm months bring big storms and a genuine severe-weather season, so watching the sky is ordinary practice at camp. Swimming water in the rivers, lakes, and pools warms through the season rather than staying cold, and the summer daylight runs long. The figures beside this note are air temperatures only.

Temperature figures are drawn from NOAA/NCEI U.S. Climate Normals. Conditions vary within a state by region, elevation, and distance from the coast, so interior and higher areas generally run cooler than coastal or low-lying ones. Treat these as a general guide, not a forecast for any specific camp.
The main way in is Omaha Eppley Airfield (OMA), the state's busiest airport and the hub for eastern Nebraska; the smaller Lincoln Airport (LNK) sits handy to the camps between the cities and toward the center. The interstate runs the length of the state along the river valley that links the cities, and from it the highways branch north into the Sandhills and northwest toward the pine country of the panhandle.
How far you actually drive depends entirely on which camp. The river-valley resident camp and the city day camps are a short run from Omaha or Lincoln. The planted-forest camp in the Sandhills is a long haul up off the interstate onto secondary roads where towns grow sparse, and the panhandle pine camps can be most of a day across the state, or a flight into a small regional field and a drive from there. Roads reach all of it, but the west is genuinely far, and transport and any pickup are best confirmed directly with the camp.
