From the Indiana guide
A camp day in an Indiana summer runs warm and humid, with afternoons that build heat until a thunderstorm rolls through and clears it. The lakes and rivers are swimmable through the core of the season and cooler at the edges of it, never cold the way a mountain lake is, with the big lake along the northern rim the coolest and windiest water in the state. Expect long bright days, honest mosquitoes near the water, and mornings that can start cool before the heat comes back.

Temperature figures are drawn from NOAA/NCEI U.S. Climate Normals. Conditions vary within a state by region, elevation, and distance from the coast, so interior and higher areas generally run cooler than coastal or low-lying ones. Treat these as a general guide, not a forecast for any specific camp.
Most families reach Indiana camps through Indianapolis International Airport (IND), which sits at the crossroads of the state and its interstates and puts a rental car within a few hours of almost any camp. Nearer the edges, regional airports at Fort Wayne (FWA), South Bend (SBN), and Evansville (EVV) can shorten the last leg, and families coming from out of state sometimes fly into Chicago or Cincinnati and drive in.
From the capital the interstates fan out toward the lake country in the north, the wooded hills in the south, and the dune-and-lakeshore edge along the top of the state, then hand off to county roads for the final stretch. Distances here are forgiving, so the reality is usually a drive rather than a long haul, and the city day camps invert the trip entirely by sitting where families already live and work. Any shuttle or pickup arrangement is best confirmed with the camp directly rather than assumed.
