From the Ohio guide
Summer here is warm and humid and thoroughly green. Heat builds through the day and frequently ends in an afternoon thunderstorm, so a camp schedule bends around the sky as much as the clock. Mornings can start cool, dusk brings mosquitoes and fireflies, and ticks are a fact of tall grass and woods. Inland lakes and reservoirs warm to comfortable swimming by the middle of summer, while the spring-fed creeks of the southeastern gorges stay cool and bracing no matter the month. Along the Lake Erie shore, the water holds the air a little cooler and breezier than the interior. The panel here shows the measured air range for the season.

Temperature figures are drawn from NOAA/NCEI U.S. Climate Normals. Conditions vary within a state by region, elevation, and distance from the coast, so interior and higher areas generally run cooler than coastal or low-lying ones. Treat these as a general guide, not a forecast for any specific camp.
Ohio's main gateways by air are spread across the state: Cleveland Hopkins (CLE) in the northeast, John Glenn Columbus (CMH) in the center, and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky (CVG) for the southwest, the last sitting just across the river in Kentucky but serving southern Ohio. Dayton (DAY), Akron-Canton (CAK), and Toledo (TOL) round out the map for regional trips. The state is fully road-accessible, so there is no fly-in-only camp country to plan around.
The usual pattern is a highway drive to the nearest metro, then a shift onto narrower county roads into the woods. The camps in the southeastern hill country sit roughly an hour by car southeast of the capital, the northeastern camps are within reach of Cleveland, and the southwestern river-valley camps are close to Cincinnati and Dayton. An east-west toll route, the Ohio Turnpike, carries traffic across the north. For the many families whose camp is a metro day camp, getting there is just a crosstown drop-off. Any pickup, bus, or shuttle arrangement is best confirmed directly with the camp, since those vary from place to place.
